Around the Hotel
I went to China for the International Children's Education Expo for work. I took a lot of pictures. This first set is before I went and did anything touristy. My hotel was next to the China National Convention Center which was built for the Olympics and next to the Bird's Nest and Water Cube that were also built for the Olympics. I didn't visit either of these places so the pictures I took of them were just drive-by's.
The lights installed for the Olympics. They remind me of The Matrix.
This is not near the hotel. This picture was taken on my way to a French Supermarket to buy Chinese candy.
No idea what this is, but its pretty.
A duck! (or rather many ducks - poor Daffy and Donald, China is not the place for them)
One of the girls I was with referred to this place a Chinese Walmart, which I found exceptionally funny as I consider Walmart to be Chinese Walmart, but alas, there are not yet any Walmarts in China.
Double decker bike parking.
CANDY!
MORE CANDY! (Most of which was peanut butter flavored as it turned out)
As I said I went there for a Children's expo. I found this pretty funny. This company set up a whole racetrack and had sports car logos everywhere, but then had a girl in what looked like a tu-tu standing on the track. She was about to ask which little boy wanted to come up and join her. Those three in the front were eager to say the least.
Not Lego's
Yes, those are working headlights...still not Lego's.
This is Beijing in not Lego's.
This was a real guy in a Bumblebee costume. For reals!
From the food court at the Convention Center. Best Beef Noodle Bowl Ever.
Guess what this is.
The Water Cube at night. It changes colors. There is water running through all those weird shapes.
I have no idea what this was, I took the picture cause it's in China.
The outside of a mall. For anyone who has been to the Time Warner mall in Columbus Circle, this was almost identical inside.
Jade dragon.
Chinese market. There used to be all these street markets in China, but Beijing has been growing and urbanizing, now the markets are in multi-floor mall type buildings.
Yep. He is everywhere.
Next...more China.
